Create your Space

Near-Time: Create SpaceCreating a new Near-Time Space couldn't be easier. Simply name your space, add a brief description, and choose the look and feel. Your space is ready to share with others and begin adding content. Once your space is created, you can customize its appearance by adding logos, banners and using your own stylesheets. With Near-Time you can create as many collaborative spaces as you would like.

Near-Time: Invite OthersInvite others

Enter the name and email address of others you would like to join your space - they will receive an email inviting along with a link to get them started. Once they respond, your members will be able to access and create pages, events, categories and everything else in your space. All pages can be private, semi-private, or public - it's up to you. You can invite as many members as you would like with Near-Time.

Use Near-Time's Invitation Express to give new members password access to your private and semi-private space.

Using Your Space

Near-Time: WorkingNow that your space is created, you set permissions for the other members. You determine which members are allowed to upload files, comment on postings, read pages and other permission related tasks within the system.

Pages (wiki format) become instantly editable by each participant in the space. Each page can include links, images and file attachments, such as PDFs and media files. Feedback can be added to the page directly or appended as a comment. These are easy to create and can be easily managed through categories and tags.

News articles (blog format) are also easy to create and give you a great platform for sharing ideas and information. News articles can link to a wiki page for further discussion, an event, or any page - internal or external. Each member can post a new article or comment on existing posts. Blog articles can contain links, images, or attached application files.

Events can be quickly added or reviewed by clicking the "Events" tab. Each event can include links, images and file attachments.

Organization is enhanced through categories and tags that can be applied to pages, articles, and events. Categories provide a group-wide classification scheme, while tags enable you to associate keywords or other useful metadata with a particlular piece of content.

You can search your Spaces using key word searches as well as searches based upon context (categories, tags, contributor…). Searches can be saved for personal use or shared with other members.

Near-Time also offers a variety of RSS feeds, enabling you to monitor new activity within a news reader. Feeds are available for all content or at the tab-level (New, Pages, Events). Attached files are captured in the RSS feed as enclosures – a quick and easy way to automatically capture local versions of the files added to a Near-Time space.

If you are looking for a way to communicate with teams (local or distributed) then don’t waste any more time. Give Near-Time a spin.

Having fully committed to use this tool for one of the companies I manage, it is nice to see you aggressively updating and improving.

“We needed to find new ways to communicate with our community. Our customers are very busy during the day, and the blog/wiki’s clean, readable style makes it easier for for our customers to quickly get our latest communications.

Highly recommended and perfect for things like year-end tax planning among specific client groups or the dissemination of information related to an acquisition. Think of the time savings alone of having an interactive, multi-media environment? What about inviting clients in? Now that’s radical.

I must say that I am INCREDIBLY impressed with near-time… you’ve just got a great thing here that so many people could benefit from!

It changes the way you teach. Our teachers are able to edit and correct the writing more immediately, too. We get more ‘time on task’ in a Near-Time learning environment than we had in our computer and print learning environment in the past.
